Reducing the Risk of Fatigue at Workplaces
Description
This document recognizes that fatigue is a hazard in the workplace. It discusses ways of reducing the risk of fatigue at workplaces, the meaning of fatigue, and causes and effects of fatigue. It explains how to assess risk factors and gives strategies to manage fatigue in the workplace.

Staying Alert at the Wheel
Description
Driver fatigue is a major safety hazard for all drivers. This booklet discusses the effect of fatigue on drivers and what causes fatigue, including body clock factors, sleep factors and work factors. Ways to reduce fatigue are suggested and check lists for keeping alert and aware of warning signs are given. A summary of the Code of Practice and Regulations for commercial drivers is included.

About rest and restitution
Description
There is a well-documented connection between fatigue and errors, and it has been proven that lack of sleep leads to increased risk of a number of illnesses such as cardiovascular illnesses and diabetes. Therefore, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) believes it is important to assign priority to measures that ensure necessary rest and restitution on the Norwegian shelf in order to reduce the likelihood of accidents, detrimental health effects and expulsion

Effect of shift schedule on offshore shiftworkers' circadian rhythms and health
Description
Offshore oil installation workers can adapt circadian rhythm to night shift schedules by advancing or delaying rhythm timing, depending on schedule and conditions. Increased light at night improves alertness and performance and may possibly improve metabolic responses to meals during night shift conditions. Which shift schedules allow circadian adaptation and whether this confers any benefit with regard to fatigue, performance and metabolism.
